Tonight’s the night the world begins again
Famous people I saw this week (that’s worth mentioning):
Ban Ki-Moon – South Korean foreign minister (he’s nominated for the UN Secretary General post)
Aso Taro – Japanese foreign minister (he went on stage dressed like inspector gadget with ultraman and a raksaksa)
Condolezza Rice – US Secretary of State (she was a metre away, wearing a bright red dress, taller than I expected)
Veronica Pedrosa – former CNN anchor now with Al-Jazeera International based in KLCC (a groupie moment)
Madam Governor Datuk Zeti Akhtar Aziz – at the airport, going somewhere (another groupie moment)
Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid and Datin Seri Normala Shamsuddin – almost didn’t recognise her

It’s been a long week, for many people. My feet are recovering, as the rest of me, thanks to more sleep in the past 24 hours. Last December I had thought that I wouldn’t take up this kind of job anymore, but I did anyway. For the money, yes. But also, I miss the action, of being in the thick of things, of ambushing leaders to get answers. There’s another side to it as well – multiple trips to the airport (seven in four days), the waiting – all guaranteed to test your patience and gnaw at your endurance. Still, beats having to stay in a cold war zone where you don’t know how to resolve the situation.

Now to plan another brief escape…
