What I do
It used to be quite straight forward. From October 2000 til October 2003, I was a journalist with Business Times, once Malaysia’s only financial daily but now a pullout in the NST.
After a short stint doing some administrative and event management work, I started freelancing, until January 2008, consisting of:
a bit of writing – articles for Malaysian Business, Financial First and trade show newsbulletins, speeches;
copy editing;
research for a book project (first draft February 2007, launched end of 2008);
communications strategy consultancy for corporations;
media coordination for Japanese press (only when I have the energy and time); and
I teach basic Japanese conversation when there are people who wants to learn.
From February 2008, I went back to full time employment with a government-linked company in Kuala Terengganu.
September ‘08: back to the newsroom
Mid-September ‘09: left the newsroom to take a break from full time journalism to do a couple of independent writing projects.
The rest of the time, I’ll be thinking of ways to be able to buy that sailboat and that BMW Mini. Really.
