Football strike

I just saw on the news that Pele has asked players in the Brazillian domestic league to go on strike, to protest against late salary payments.

Read here that Pele was quoted as saying that after Flamengo players said they’ve not received their wages for two months.

Can you imagine no football in Brazil of all the places? That’s really sad.

I remember reading about our own players complaining about late wages last year. Several state FA’s couldn’t even afford to pay their players and staff and in one report, FAM said IT will pay the salaries of state players when they show up for national duty. More of that here.

Pele had also said in the news report that Brazil is not ready to host the 2014 World Cup, but that is another issue. Heck, if Greece could manage to build all those facilities for the Olympics (albeit barely missing the deadline), then why not Brazil?
